Found via Mashable. Sonicbids, the well-known social site for band promoters, has received about $4.5 million in funding from the Edison Venture Fund. If you’ve never heard of Sonicbids, Mashable’s Kristen Nicole sums it up for you:

The community is put in place to help promoters and musicians take away the tediousness involved with the business side of the music industry. Sonicbids helps you manage your calendars, photos, music samples, and connect with others in the industry as well. It does this by helping you create an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) that can be sent out to potential venues, managers, etc. It’s also available online for you to direct others too, for booking purposes, or to gather additional information regarding your band.

The site isn’t exactly new. It was founded in 2001, being based out of Boston.

That site seems to be a pretty good idea, unless a bunch of joker wannabe bands start clogging the site thinking they are the next fall out boy.
